This is the vision behind Vi3Dgo<\/b>, one of only two projects selected for funding under the SPARK Pisa \u2013 Proof of Concept 2026<\/b> program, an initiative of the University of Pisa dedicated to the development of innovative technologies with strong application potential in the medical and diagnostic fields.<\/p>\n
The project is coordinated by Prof. Paolo Neri<\/b> from the Department of Civil and Industrial Engineering at the University of Pisa, in collaboration with Dr. Giovanni Menchini<\/b>, Scientific and Medical Director of Dermacademy Institute.<\/p>\nFrom Research to Clinical Practice<\/h3>\n
Vi3Dgo was created to develop an innovative digital solution for monitoring visible dermatological conditions, supporting both physicians and patients in assessing clinical progression over time.<\/p>\n
Objectively and consistently documenting the changes that occur throughout a treatment journey is one of the major challenges in modern dermatology. Increasingly accurate tools can improve clinical follow-up, data collection, and the overall quality of patient care.<\/p>\n
Dr. Giovanni Menchini’s involvement represents the natural continuation of more than twenty-five years of research dedicated to the study of vitiligo.<\/p>\n
Throughout his clinical and scientific career, Dr. Menchini has contributed to the development of assessment tools for the disease, including the Vitiligo Activity Index (VAI)<\/b>, an index used to measure vitiligo activity and monitor its progression over time.<\/p>\n
The need to make clinical evaluation increasingly objective is now one of the central challenges in dermatology, and Vi3Dgo represents a new opportunity to advance this goal through technological innovation.<\/p>\n
Digital technologies are playing an increasingly important role in modern medicine. The ability to collect standardized, comparable, and easily documented information helps support clinical decision-making while providing patients with greater awareness of their therapeutic journey.<\/p>\n
Vi3Dgo contributes to this evolving landscape by supporting the development of tools that promote increasingly personalized, measurable, and evidence-based medicine.<\/p>\n
