FAQ
Dermacademy is a private multidisciplinary clinic based in Pisa, founded in 2018 by Dr. Giovanni Menchini, specialized in dermatology, aesthetic medicine, plastic surgery, phlebology, and longevity medicine. The Institute integrates five clinical areas through a coordinated and personalized approach, supported by a multidisciplinary medical team and hospital-grade technological equipment, including an ISO 5 certified surgical room.
The Dermacademy Institute is located at Via Darsena 2, Pisa (ZIP Code 56121), and is easily reachable from the SGC Fi-Pi-Li highway (Pisa exit). For those arriving by train, Pisa Centrale station is approximately 3.5 km away; for those arriving by plane, Galileo Galilei Airport is approximately 1.8 km away.
Dermacademy operates across five complementary clinical areas: dermatology (skin conditions, trichology, pediatric dermatology), aesthetic medicine (non-invasive face and body treatments), plastic surgery (outpatient procedures performed in an ISO 5 surgical room), phlebology (vascular conditions), and longevity medicine (IV therapy, metabolic assessment, and anti-aging protocols). Medical and surgical dermatology are coordinated under the medical direction of Dr. Giovanni Menchini, while aesthetic medicine, plastic surgery, phlebology, and longevity medicine are overseen by Dr. Roberto Di Mitri.

Yes. Dermacademy is one of the leading European centers for the treatment of vitiligo, thanks to the ImmunoNova protocol developed by Dr. Menchini. ImmunoNova is an integrated therapeutic protocol based on five pillars (clinical evaluation with VAI and Wood’s lamp, correction of gastrointestinal dysfunctions, microbiota and vitamin D optimization, home UVB phototherapy, and targeted topical therapies) and has documented clinical improvement in 84% of the 4,136 patients treated over the past 8 years.
Dermacademy’s aesthetic medicine department includes non-invasive face and body treatments performed with state-of-the-art laser technologies and personalized injectable protocols. The main treatments include photorejuvenation, laser treatments for acne scars, treatment of skin spots and visible capillaries, biostimulation, microneedling, hyaluronic acid fillers, botulinum toxin, and chemical peels. The Institute’s approach focuses on enhancing natural beauty rather than promoting aesthetic standardization.
All plastic surgery procedures performed at the Dermacademy Institute are carried out on a day surgery basis, meaning the patient is admitted in the morning, undergoes surgery, and returns home the same day without the need for hospitalization. This approach is made possible by the Institute’s ISO 5 certified surgical room, the highest standard available for surgical environments. Among the most requested procedures are blepharoplasty (upper and lower eyelids), otoplasty (prominent ear correction), mini facelift, LESC – subcutaneous lipoemulsion, all dermatologic surgery procedures (sebaceous cyst surgery, ingrown toenail surgery, skin biopsies, melanocytic nevi, melanoma surgery), and aesthetic plastic surgery procedures (breast augmentation, mastopexy, facelift, etc.). Every procedure is performed by specialized plastic surgeons following hospital-grade safety protocols and using local anesthesia or assisted sedation.
The surgical pathway at Dermacademy is fully personalized and follows a structured three-step protocol: a pre-operative consultation with the plastic surgeon for clinical evaluation, procedure planning, and photographic documentation; the surgery itself, performed in the ISO 5 certified surgical room on a day surgery basis, with duration and anesthesia tailored to the specific procedure; and a post-operative follow-up program with scheduled check-ups to monitor healing and the evolution of the results. Patients are constantly supported by the clinical team and have direct access to the surgeon for any need during the recovery phase. The day surgery approach allows for faster recovery times compared to traditional hospital surgery, while maintaining the same safety standards.
Longevity medicine is a medical approach aimed at promoting healthy aging by acting on the biological mechanisms of cellular aging. At Dermacademy, this discipline includes IV Therapy with personalized infusion drips (Skin & Hair Vitality, Detox System Support, Anti-Aging Cocktail), AGEs analysis (markers of biological aging), metabolic assessment, and integrated clinical wellness protocols. Every treatment pathway begins with an in-depth diagnostic evaluation and is formulated in the laboratory according to the patient’s actual needs.
