Dermacademy Means Safety and Protection for Your Data

When I chose to found the Dermacademy Institute, patient safety was one of the aspects I evaluated and addressed with the greatest attention. For a medical clinic, guaranteeing the highest level of safety in every possible situation is essential, not only for the most complex procedures but also for those considered routine and therefore, mistakenly, regarded as low risk.

Today, I can confidently say that the Dermacademy Institute represents the highest standard in terms of patient safety. Safety from an insurance perspective, of course — all physicians and specialists working within the center are covered by policies designed to guarantee protection against every possible complication — and safety in terms of compliance with the highest standards required by healthcare authorities.

This means that even the simplest outpatient procedures are performed in strict accordance with healthcare protocols designed to minimize risks of every kind. Very often, patients turn to beauty centers for minor aesthetic medicine procedures, but such facilities cannot, by definition, guarantee the same level of safety and professionalism offered by a healthcare institution officially authorized by the competent authorities. The compliance of the Institute is certified by the Azienda USL Toscana Nord Ovest, which granted authorization No. 7 on December 20, 2017, to carry out specialized dermatology activities, plastic surgery, and outpatient surgery under local anesthesia.

Listing all the precautions and measures that make Dermacademy a cutting-edge center in terms of patient safety would take too long, so I will limit myself to describing one aspect that I consider particularly representative: for the forced air exchange system within the facility, I chose an especially powerful installation capable of guaranteeing the complete replacement of 10 volumes of air every hour. The air is taken from outside, properly filtered, distributed throughout the rooms, and then expelled again outside, ensuring an environment free from germs and bacteria. It may seem like a detail, but I firmly believe that the level of safety a healthcare facility can provide also depends on measures such as these.

When discussing safety in 2020, it is impossible to overlook the importance of the proper storage and protection of personal data. By necessity, a center such as the Dermacademy Institute collects a vast amount of patient information every day. These are highly sensitive data related to health. Each patient’s medical records are constantly updated with high-definition images, information regarding past and ongoing conditions and treatments, as well as personal details. These are personal data that every individual has the right to keep strictly confidential and not share with anyone who does not genuinely need access in order to provide a service or treatment.

Data are of enormous importance for the effectiveness of the treatments and services we offer our patients; it is through their observation and analysis that we develop therapeutic protocols tailored to each specific case. Equally fundamental for us is the protection and security of this information, which is why we have chosen an advanced system for data management and storage that guarantees absolute protection. Once again, I like to mention a small detail: inside the Dermacademy Institute, you will not find Wi-Fi access, because remote connections are often the primary route through which digital data theft occurs.

The direct management of patient data is entrusted to clinical assistants, the professionals within the center who work most closely with patients and who are often responsible for collecting this valuable information. They have been professionally trained in this aspect of their work as well and are fully capable of carrying out their duties with the highest degree of effectiveness and confidentiality.

In addition, the air is drawn from outside, filtered, distributed throughout the facility, and then expelled back outside, allowing for a complete air exchange up to 10 times per hour.
